About

Christoph M. Kaiser and Julian Maas have created soundtracks for various notable films over the past 20 years.
Some of their earlier film soundtracks include This Is Love by Matthias Glasner, Remembrance by Anna Justice and the dystopian near-future drama Days to Come by Lars Kraume, for which they were awarded the German Film Critics Prize in the category Best Music in 2010.

They also composed the music for the political thriller Two Lives by Georg Maas, which was Germany’s submission for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 2013 Oscars, as well as Jack by Edward Berger, which premiered at the 2014 Berlinale and won the German Film Award in Silver.
Among their most renowned scores are The People vs. Fritz Bauer by Lars Kraume, earning them a nomination for the German Film Award in 2015, Emily Atef’s 3 Days in Quiberon, for which the composers won both the German Film Award and the European Film Award in 2018, and the music for the TV-series Bauhaus‑A New Era, for which Kaiser & Maas were honored at the Cannes International Series Festival 2019 in the Best Music category.

In addition to their diverse work for cinema, Christoph & Julian have composed music for over 90 television films, as well as an increasing number of documentaries and artist portraits.

Depending on the theme of each film, the duo creates both classical orchestral scores and more experimental music, performing as many instruments as possible themselves.

Christoph and Julian work out of their own studio in Hamburg, Germany.
